Currently, there is one chapter in the Upper Midwest Section, in addition to the organization proper.

University of Minnesota Student Chapter

The A&WMA UMS Student Chapter was established in 2000 at the University of Minnesota with ten students. The chapter is organized jointly with Water Environmental Federation (WEF) and American Water Works Association (AWWA) with a total of 30 students calling themselves Minnesota Environmental Engineers, Scientists, and Enthusiasts (MEESE). The group is largely comprised of civil engineering students but is open to all disciplines. The student chapter activities include technical and informational seminars, company tours, and social activities.
